Oak Hills Kitchen Remodel
Earlier this week, The Haven List revealed our Oak Hills Kitchen Remodel and we’re so excited to share today more of the design concept and look-a-like product sources! Our clients came to us with an already beautiful home, but it felt choppy due to an outdated floor plan. They originally wanted help with a kitchen renovation, but we were able to open up walls and truly transform the majority of the house! It now feels light and airy and open, with each room flowing casually to the next.
To begin, we knocked down the confining walls, raised the ceilings and laid a beautiful oak flooring through all the spaces. Storage was a top priority for our clients, so our job was to achieve that bright, open and airy feel of floating shelves without sacrificing cabinet space. To do that, we maximized every inch of the 12 foot waterfall island; it’s outfitted with drawers and lower cabinets - even a secondary sink! To keep things from looking too matchy, we opted for a brushed stainless faucet to compliment, not compete with the brass light fixtures (similar) or hardware. This spacious island allows for a fully functioning eat-in counter that seats five in these organic but substantial barstools (similar, super affordable version here). Since the kitchen is all white, we wanted the pendants to make a big statement (similar option).
Additionally, this space serves multiple purposes. The clients wanted a dedicated workstation and desk. We carried the open shelves over, added additional storage and ran the same subway tile backsplash all the way to the mini-office area. We added a cozy bench for lounging with built in storage and a collection of pretty neutral pillows.
For this project, we kept the styling clean and simple, since the kitchen needs to function all day, every day. We brought in some more texture and wood tones with this hand carved bowl, pretty enamel cake plate, and graphic bread boards. We added ceramic crocks for additional storage to the counter and open shelving. Finally, we finished off the details with this graphic, but natural runner that will withstand lots of wear and tear under the sink.
Below we’ve linked the project sources for your shopping pleasure. Just a reminder that since so much of what we do is custom for our clients, sometimes things are available retail. In those cases, we’ve linked similar items we know would look great in your kitchen!
