Palisades Project: Bedroom Tour

I can't believe we're already onto our final tour of our Palisades Project. This amazing couple lived in their space for nearly six months completely unfinished due to Covid-19 restrictions and delays. I still commend them for their incredible grace and patience during the process - and I'm so grateful we got to bring their beautiful new home from a bit outdated and traditional to California casual.

So far, we've taken you through the amazing office transformation, front living room, entry, breakfast nook and family room. Now we're headed upstairs to check out the incredible ocean views from the primary suite. There is so much natural light in the space and like the rest of the house, had beautiful existing architectural details. The ceiling was adorned with bespoke paneling and millwork with gorgeous built-ins surrounding the windows.

We wanted to bring in warmth, texture and and some casual cool, so we layered a textural jute rug with a beautiful faux vintage rug for a pop of color. We did a lot of custom work in this space, mainly because having a TV in the bedroom was a top priority for my clients. Not wanting to block those gorgeous beach views, we designed this custom TV lift at the foot of the bed to match the nightstands. It works perfect for them to raise it up when they need the TV, but it tucks away perfectly to allow for ocean sunset views. Additionally, we custom made the bed for them. The clients wanted something timeless and elevated, and the custom curved shape was the perfect solution. Finally, we custom made the ottomans at the foot of the bed in a neutral pattern to fit perfectly with the TV lift and bed frame.

One of the luxurious details we added were the entirely mechanical window treatments throughout the room from The Shade Store. We selected The Shade Store's wool fabric, which brought in some natural texture and much needed dose of color against the all white walls. In the adjacent sitting area, we used a vintage rug to anchor the space and paired it with a cozy chair and ottoman.

I really feel now more than ever, having a designated space to rest and reflect is critical to self-care. I'm so happy we were able to turn this very traditional home into a relaxing, inviting sanctuary for our sweet clients. After such a stressful year, 6 months of an unfinished home awaiting furnishings and decor, putting the final touches on this space was so fulfilling.
