Park Cottage Project: Part II

Two weeks ago, we revealed my best friends living room. This project is so special to us, we decided to style it twice! You can view the original design here for a look at the brighter, bolder design. Today, we’re mixing it up and taking a more neutral, formal approach to the same space.

We kept all the big pieces (like the statement light fixture, timeless sofa and statement chairs), but swapped the accessories for a more subtle color palette and slightly more formal look. To begin, we removed the modern landscape above the mantle and opted for a round black mirror layered with an abstract black and white print. We love how the oversized mirror reflects light and abstract print plays off the geometric shape of the light fixture.

The next substantial swap we made were the textiles. We ditched the bold floral patterns for neutral layers like these, these and these. To add some visual interest, we layered in this striped pom pom blanket for the perfect pop of pattern. You’ll also notice we rearranged the console table styling by grouping two different clusters of branches. Finally, we swapped our favorite leather pouf for this textured wool version that adds another dimension of texture.

Shop the look below, compare the two rooms here, and let us know in the comments below which version you prefer!
