Mulholland Drive Project Part III: Kitchen + Breakfast Room

One of our very favorite transformations to date, we’re SO thrilled to reveal Part III of the Mulholland Drive Project! This kitchen and breakfast room have sweeping views from the hills of Los Angeles, on the iconic Mulholland Drive.

Our sweet clients purchased the house a year ago and had a limited renovation budget. Instead of doing a full remodel (and project managing it for them), we opted to do a design consultation for small renovations they could tackle for the most substantial impact. In the kitchen, we removed some upper cabinets, painted, installed new counters and added new hardware. A vintage rug breaks up the blue cabinets and fills the spacious kitchen. At the counter under the kitchen window, we used these cult favorite bar stools. To finish it off, we styled the kitchen with pretty hand towels.

We kept the breakfast room simple, comfortable and inviting to showcase the oversized windows and sprawling view. Anchored by a beautiful vintage rug (similar sourced linked here and here), the space feels bright, airy and layered with texture. These white wishbone chairs are nothing short of an absolute dream around this more rustic farmhouse table.

These clients have THE COOLEST jobs. Remember the Living Room Reveal when we told you they are a luxury travel agent and music composer for Hand Maiden’s Tale? That’s why we let the gorgeous piano shine front and center in this room, so it can be right in the heart of their home.

Opposite of the giant windows, we selected a mid-century modern sideboard to balance the room and act as a serving station. The oversized abstract prints (here and here) mimic the shape + scale of the windows across, while providing a focal point apart from the amazing view.
